The State of Maryland was found liable in federal court for inadequately funding its Historical Black Colleges and Universities. The court order to perform the latter was refused by the Maryland’s higher education system. For 12 years this case has been in flux and has no end in sight since the mediation between Maryland and HBCU advocates has failed once again. Read more on this story here.
Cesar Sayoc has pled guilty to mailing inoperative pipe bombs last October to Democratic leaders and donors. Sayoc was handed a 20 year sentence accompanied by five years of probation. Lawyers pleaded for leniency for their “regretful” client. See exactly what the defense had to say here.
We are accustomed to hearing legislators and the gun lobby offer “thoughts and prayers” for those who were killed in mass shootings. Finally, Congress has bipartisan support for a “Red-Flag” proposal that would provide federal grants for states to enact and implement these red-flag laws.
