Mississippi Tragedy: Delta State Student Demartravion “Trey” Reed Found Hanging From a Tree

On September 15, 2025, Delta State University faculty members found the body of the beloved 21 year old student  Demartravion “Trey” Reed hanging from a tree on Delta State University’s campus.

Trey, a native of Grenada, Mississippi was only one month into his sophomore year. Reportedly, Trey passed under the suspicions of self-inflicted trauma, but given the nature of the situation and the historical context, many in the community point to a more devastating conclusion. 

Close associates of Trey and DSU student body have questions regarding what truly happened to Trey. Some sources have stated that as recently as a few days ago a possible argument occurred with someone else.

Some Family members have taken to social media to express their grief and others to demand justice.

While the preliminary reports from campus police and local authorities are calling this self inflicted, the investigation with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and Cleveland’s coroner’s office is still ongoing.
